Babak Shabatian, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist and Physician Owner of Ventura Institute of Ophthalmology and founder and director of Cali Eye and Laser Institute.
Dr. Shabatian attended the University of California in Los Angeles for his undergraduate studies. He earned a degree in Bachelors of Science and graduated with top honors of summa cum laude. He then went on to the prestigious Boston University School of Medicine to earn his Medical Degree, after which he completed an internship in General Surgery at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles California.
He completed his ophthalmology residency training in New York at North Shore – Long Island Jewish Hospital, affiliates of New York University Medical Center and Albert Einstein School of Medicine.
He was chosen to serve as the Chief Resident in his final year of residency. Dr. Shabatian then completed a sub-specialty Fellowship training in Medical Diseases of Vitreous and Retina at SUNY Downstate / Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn New York.
Dr. Shabatian practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a focus on advanced cataract surgery, and treatment of Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. He has performed thousands of procedures with excellent and predictable results. He is frequently invited to lecture on topics of refractive and advance cataract surgery.
